Termites can be hard to detect, due to the fact that they eat wood from the inside out. This means that by the time they are detected, considerable damage may already have been done. Many building materials are susceptible to termite damage, not just wood. Having your materials tested for termite resistance brings an assurance of durability and code compliance to both the builder and the buyer.
NTA can evaluate the code compliance of your building product for termite resistance in a couple of ways, comparative testing (treated to untreated lumber), or laboratory evaluation of treated or untreated cellulosic material for its resistance to subterranean termites. This test should be considered as a screening only for treated material, further evaluation by held methods is required.
