The safety and durability of decks and handrails are important factors for consumers. With more choices than ever before in decking materials, colors, shapes and sizes, ensuring that the decking and railings of an exterior deck will perform as expected is vital. The variety of materials used in decks and railings (wood, composite, PVC and more) all respond in different ways to different climates and conditions.
The International Residential Code (IRC) states, "Plastic composite exterior deck boards, stair treads, guards and handrails shall comply with the requirements of ASTM D7032 and the requirements of Section 507.3 1 ". NTA performs surveillance audits and independent testing for compliance to ASTM D7032 to ensure that your systems and components meet or exceed the requirements for quality and safety.
Our deck and railing testing and evaluation includes reviewing your quality control program and documentation, performing quality audits at your facility to verify continued use of the in-plant quality control measures, and periodic sampling and testing of your product. The NTA certification provides evidence of your concern for consumer safety, code compliance and validates your marketing claims.
We are accredited under ISO/IEC 17065 (view our Certificate of Accreditation issued by IAS) to test a variety of building products. With our highly trained and experienced test lab, and our network of auditors nationwide, we can partner with you wherever you are!
