Post Frame Engineering Design
Post frame design is traditionally associated with pole barn – like structures. These structures are reliant on large posts that transfer vertical and horizontal forces to and from the post frame. NTA Inc.’s state of the art Post Frame design process analyzes the relationship and interaction between the soil, post, frames, diaphragms, and shearwalls in order to make the design applicable to a variety of building types and projects, outside of the traditional pole barn scope. Based upon the characteristics of each construction and end use, NTA Inc. will incorporate the most appropriate SIP Design, while still conforming to code regulations. NTA Inc. partners with the National Frame Builders Association (NFBA) to keep abreast of the most recent industry news. Currently, NTA Inc. is building a Green Energy Efficient home in Nappanee, Indiana, based upon the principles of post frame design. To ensure that this home, as well as other construction projects, is compliant with code, NTA Inc. uses the Design For Code Acceptance 5 (DCA5) document which was written by the American Forest & Paper Association to provide guidance when constructing a post frame building.
